Weekly News

HeR recently posted on the Message Boards about Stay Tuned for Danger. Personally, I've never had problems playing any of the games on Vista, but I know several people who can't. So HeR's rational makes perfect since to me, except that they didn't let us know. No memo, blog post, facebook, twitter, nothing. An "f.y.i. STFD is being discontinued on 11/17/11, order now if you don't have this game!" would have been nice.

If this whole thing has thrown a monkey wrench in your collection plans, you might be able to find a copy online. Amazon still has a few floating around listed has new, but that is about it.

In unrelated news, HeR's facebook page got a bit of a makeover a while back. Who else wants them to sell those mugs and water bottles? Also got some nice images out of the remastered version:

The Hardy Boys vs. The Hardy Boys

The Hardy Boys vs. The Hardy Boys, also known as Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon vs. The Creature of Kapu Cave, the only two HeRinteractive Nancy Drew games to have the Hardy Boys appear in person.

Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, home of Frank and Joe 1.0:

The Hardys are at their prime, helping Nance solve the mystery and still managing to crack some good lines. The whole mystery revolves around Jake Hurley's train and long lost mine. You even get to investigate a might be kidnapping. In the process, you get to explore said train and an old mining town, including a taffy store.

In The Creature of Kapu Cave, the Hardys get a major make-over:

You get to switched back and forth between the Hardys and Nancy a lot, while there's not much contact between the trio of detectives. It's starts out with two mysteries, the Hardys case and Nancy case, but they end up entwined.

Personally, I've always liked Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon better, the Hardys seems more realistic and the mystery is more involved. The Creature of Kapu Cave doesn't have the same level of graphics, character development, or mystery. And you spent to much time making necklaces.

What are your feelings on the two games and their portrayal of Frank and Joe? Do you have a distinct favorite?

Castle a.k.a. Nancy Drew

If you've watched a lot of detective TV shows, you've probably noticed that, at least one, a character will try to insult someone by calling them Nancy Drew, etc. It's happened on Castle and White Collar twice each, and several other shows. But, as Rick Castle makes at about 2:30 on this video, Nancy Drew has solved every case:

So there. Ha! ^.^

Nancy Drew Music

HeRinteractive used to sell the music from the games, in section. Like the first five games' music was in one collection then the next group in another, etc. Several of us wanted them to release the next collection, since the last one only contained the music up to The White Wolf of Icicle Creek or the Legend of the Crystal Scull (I forget).

However, since they set up the new download store, I can't find the old ones even!

Now, there are several others ways to listen to the music, even if you don't have time to play the game. People on YouTube have posted some of the tracks, some can be downloaded, and you can also play most on GirlDetective.org's iNancy.

But it would still be nice to have the official collections back, if not new ones to update all the way to Alibi in Ashes. In fact, it be fantastic if they came out with some kind of 25th game special super edition with the music from all the games. But, that's just me, how about the everyone else?

Joe's Phone and Frank's Comments

Frank: Okay, seriously, you want to know what kind of stuff Joe has on his iPhone? Your kidding right?

Joe: Hey! Why shouldn't she? This things cool!

Frank: Okay, fine. What about my phone?

Joe: Now why would she won't to know what's on your phone? All you have is a bunch of research apps! Come on, who needs 'dictionary.com'? *rolls eyes*

Frank: It happens to be a very informative and-

Me: Ah, Frank, I'd love to heard about your phone, too. How about next week?

Frank: Oh well, ah- yeah, sure.

Joe: Great. I'll go to the movies that day...

Frank: *Stares at Joe*

Me: Well, okay, let's get back to why we're here... Joe, would you like to tell us about your phone?

Joe: Oh yeah... Okay, so I have all three Angry Birds games-

Frank: Seriously, that's the first thing you can think of? Angry Birds? And you have all three versions?

Joe: Yes. There's are huge differences!

Frank: Oh come on, Joe. There's birds and theirs pigs. What can they do with that? Add cats?

Joe: Monkeys actually... *rolls eyes*

Frank: Monkeys, of course. Well at least we know money's well spent... *rolls eyes*

Me: Okay...back to Joe...

Joe: Thank you! Okay, so I have all the Angry Birds...oh, and this really cool racing game, Supersonic! And the Netflix app, Pimp Your Screen, which has some really cool wallpapers in it. And the ebay app-

Frank: -to buy loads of junk-

Joe: *stares at Frank* And this Photo Booth app-

Frank: How about Evernote? You know, the only decent application you have on that thing?

Joe: Huh?

Frank: The notes? That we use to sync our Journals while we're on cases?

Joe: Oh yeah...well, I think that's it.

Frank: What, you don't have all five editions of Cut the Rope?

Joe: There's only three, Frank. And, yes, I have them. Along with the Sims 3.

Frank: *blushes* Right.

Me: Okay... well, thanks for showing us your phone, Joe? And we're on for next week, Frank?

Frank: Yeah, sure.

Joe: Movies.

Frank: *rolls eyes*

Me: Well, again, thank you for your time!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, celebrated by some, not by others, in varying ways. Whether you gather around a large table to dine on a turkey that's taken three hours longer than it should have to cook, or you just enjoy the early weekend, complete with football, most of us at least celebrate the time off.

In the land of our sleuths, holidays, aren't really acknowledged. In several books, it's mentioned that Nancy and her Dad have been to church, and Hannah is famous for her grand meals. So it seems logical to see Nancy, Carson, Hannah, and maybe even Ned around a table willed with the traditional Thanksgiving meal. On the other hand, in the Girl Detective series, she drives a hybrid car. So perhaps that stuffed turkey is really Tofurky?

The Hardy Boys follow a similar pattern, though I doubt Aunt Gertrude is serving up fake turkey. And, provided a urgent case isn't keeping them tied up, I can see the Hardys gathering around the TV with their Dad to watch the game.

What do you picture our favorite sleuth's during tomorrow?

Classic games at risk!

I found out this weekend that HeR has discontinued Stay Tuned for Danger, the second game in the series. This means that no one will be able to buy it any more, at least not new. Amazon has some stock, but that will run out soon enough.

No remastered version has been mentioned, so I don't think that it will be replaced with another version like Secrets Can Kill. This may or may not be good- it depends on what you thought of Secrets Can Kill Remastered.

The bottom line here is that Stay Tuned for Danger is off the product line, seemingly for good. And the other classic games could follow. They may be outdated, but they are classics. If you want to preserve these games, there are several petitions on the message boards, such as this one and this one.

If your not on the boards, I recommend joining, or at the very least, please email HeR about this issue. If fans take a stand and let them know we still want the classic games, I'm sure they will keep them!

Hardy Boys Games

DreamCatcher Interactive Inc. produced two Hardy Boys PC games: The Hidden Theft in 2008 and The Perfect Crime in 2009. Personally, I never got to play them but I never really heard anything good about them.

The Hidden Theft is a adventure game, but from the reviews on Amazon and what I've heard on the HeR message boards, there's a lot of bugs and the game isn't up to par with the Nancy Drew games. The main complaint seems to be the plot: super lame.

The second is a hidden object game, and a really bad one apparently. Courtesy of the Amazon reviews, I found out that the Hardys spend most of the time cleaning up their room or the Chief's office just to find one item.  Sounds like basically the same thing they did with the Agatha Christie hidden object games.

Apparently another company acquired the rights to the Hardy Boys games, but no plans for another game have been made public. Hopefully, if they decide to make one, they'll improve upon the older games.

Of course, there's also the Hardy Boys DS game, Treasure on the Tracks, produced by HeR. I've never played it because I don't have access to a computer, but what I've heard is good. And then there's always the part where Samantha Quick shows up. I watched over half of Arglefumph's video walkthrough, and with the exception that it seems like a Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon/Romanov crossover, I'd have to say it looks awesome.

Overall, they're have been mixed results on the Hardy Boys games front. The PC games have been a bit of a failure, but the DS game has met with pretty good reception, though nothing about a sequel has been said.

10 Reasons HeR needs to Release a App

1. Quick click to all things Nancy Drew.

2. Quick access to the message board, blogs, facebook, and twitter.

3. Easy way to get alerts whenever news comes in.

4. Easy to use the message boards, they might even have a mobile version.

5. Formatting for the message boards, so you can see signatures on the go.

6. Mobile site so we can see everything, no matter the Flash information.

7. Oh yeah, and know when you have a problem in a game and desperately need help? You won't have to exit out or keep transferring back and forth. Open the App and keep your game up at the same time!

8. Everything all in one place, boo yeah!

9. Seriously, this doesn't sound awesome to you?

10. Okay, fine, we'll have all this, plus the Hardy Boys. :)

Lots of Mayhem

I recently discovered that Movie Mayhem would not only be the end of the Deathstalker Trilogy, but of the whole series. Now, yes, I did read this on Wikipedia. But I also followed up with research around the net and a heart attack.

Hardy Boys: Undercover Brothers is ditched after the Deathstalker Trilogy, which finishes on January 3, 2012 with Movie Mayhem. It will be replaced with The Hardy Boys Adventures in 2013. Okay, so maybe we can get rid of those awful covers and lame trilogy format...

Nancy Drew: Girl Detective is also done as soon as Stalk, Don't Run is published in February and the Malibu Mayhem Trilogy finishes. Okay, so maybe this isn't too bad... Wait! It's being replaced with Nancy Drew Diaries in 2013. Yeah, why does that sound so bad? Idk, it just does... ^.~

The Supermysteries are still a question. I think it's suppose to be done with Undercover Brothers in 2012, but maybe they'll sneak #6 in. I hope.

What are your thoughts?

How to Write a Fancy or Jancy if Your a Nancy

Okay, first off, the question that your probably asking yourself after reading the title: What the heck is a Fancy or Jancy?!?! Simply enough, Jancy is the term coined by my fellow HeR message board members G.G. (HorseWriter4GOD) and Katie (kw_drewfan), to mean "The world of Joe Hardy and Nancy Drew fans.". Basically, it's used for anything in which Nancy and Joe will be/are a couple. Then somebody else (sorry, I don't know your name!) come up with the term Francy or Fancy (the one I use) to mean anything in which Nancy and Frank will be/are a couple. And as for Ned (who's getting slightly, okay completely, enraged standing in the corner), if he's sticking around we'll just call it a Nancy. Which for Ned and Nancy fans like me, is proof that they belong together. Ha. ;)

Now, as I mentioned, I'm a Nancy fan. But I recently challenged myself to write a Fancy AE for the board. For  fun. *insert cut scene of Cou banging head against wall* With this in mind, I compiled a list of helpful hints for anyone who's insane as me and goes off trying to write a Fancy or Jancy if your a Nancy.

1. Ignore Ned completely. If he's not there, he can't be Nancy's boyfriend, right? No phone calls, emails, texts, random appearances, nothing. In other words, break the cardinal rule of writing a Nancy AE. Or, if you've scene Doctor Who, pretend Ned just fell through the crack in the wall in Pond's room. Ned who?

2. Meet your new best friend: amnesia. It makes it seem slightly okay when Nancy is crushing on Frank or Joe when she doesn't remember she has a boyfriend. Of course, Ned would probably find out she has amnesia and grab a airplane...

3. Okay, fine, at some point Ned will probably have to come into it. Labor over this part, though, make sure it's perfect. It also might help if you have it between the brother who's not crushing on Nance, so if it's a Fancy, have Joe talk to Ned. Even if it keeps coming out awkward, work with it, you can make the awkwardness fit into the situation.

4. Decide the max amount you can handle and work around it. If you can't stand something, don't do it. If you try to, it will just seem strange and out of place. So, say you can't stand the thought of Nancy saying "I love you" to Frank: don't have her. Or, do it off-page and have her thinking about it, or mention it to another character in a later chapter. This can help with other stuff too. Say you have a scene where they kiss, but your having trouble writing it. Easy: switch of to another character. You can have them walk in on the kiss, or just come back into the story post-kiss.

5. The same thing applies to the end. If you can't stand the thought of Nancy and a Hardy together long-term, don't write it that way. If you go with a amnesia type plot, it's easy to have her just regain her memory. If your working off of another idea, you can have them break-up, or just have Ned show up and Nancy remember how much she loves him.

6. Don't go overboard with editing. Make it sound right, and keep up proper spelling and grammar, but certain parts will still probably bother no matter what. Either find a way to except it as is, or get rid of it. It depends a lot on what kind of scene we're talking about and how vital it is to your plot, but I don't recommend re-writing it a million times to get it just so. This is one of the few cases where it will work against you.

Yeah... :)

An Interview with Nancy Drew

Me: Hi Nancy. Before we get started, I'd just like to say, thank you so much for agreeing to do this. I know you recently had a bad experience with a reporter.

Nancy: Oh, I don't mind. If a didn't go to mechanics, just because I discovered one was swindling and almost got killed...well, you get the point...

Me: Ah...yeah, sure. So how do you feel about your recent case?

Nancy: Well...I got accused of burning down our historical town hall...naturally, I'm not really proud of that. I just feel lucky that I have such great friends to help me prove my innocence.

Me: Oh, I wouldn't expect it to be your favorite or anything! But that's a excellent way of looking at it. May I ask what if your favorite case though?

Nancy: *laughs* I'm not sure if I have one, they've all been really exciting- and scary at moments. I really enjoy the historical cases though, like when I found the lost diamond of Maria Antoinette, now that was a fun case!

Me: It's good to hear about your old cases. You're really been able to travel to a lot of different places, like Ireland and Italy. How are you feeling about your coming trip to Egypt?

Nancy: Oh, yes, I'm looking forward to it. Like I said, I like the historical mysteries. :D

Me: Well, that's about it. Thank you again for coming! And I hope you have lots of fun in Egypt!

Nancy: Thank you.

He he. :P

Bizarreness

Recently, I popped over to the popular names list for 1995, on the hunt for a character's name. Funny enough in the 160th spot for boy's names is Drew, and in girl's place is Nancy. ^.^

The list of bizarre Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys things goes on:

In Alibi in Ashes, you find three fingerprinting kits in Nancy's room. This may be picky, but why does she have three? It's not like they only work once... ^.~ Maybe party favors?

The Tonner Doll Company makes both Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys dolls. And Joe wears glasses!

Nancy's car in the 2007 movie is a 1960 blue Nash Metropolitan convertible. If you didn't get that, read the sentence again.

And then there's classic errors like the Ned mention in The Secret at Shadow Ranch... :D

Have you spotted any bizarre Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys things?

The Note

In the bonus edition of Alibi in Ashes, you can find a note from Ned to Nancy. It's hidden on the back of this picture frame:

Since those who don't have the special edition can't see the note, I figured I'd post it:

It's pretty sappy, but also sweet and very Ned-like. ^.~ It also reminded me of another note:

It's from a 2010 Valentine's Day contest HeR had. If you figured out the puzzle, it led you to the URL of the image. Back then, everyone thought that the note meant Nancy was heading home soon. Four games later, I guess she finally got that perfect evening. After the snooping. ;)

What's your thoughts? Do you have a favorite note?

Contests and Such

For anyone who doesn't know, HeRinteractive is running a weekend puzzle/contest this week. The prize is a digital copy of the Curse of Blackmoor Manor. Good luck to everyone!

This, of course, put in the spirit of Blackmoor Manor, that is to say, completely and utterly creepy. Oh not really. *cough*yes-lady in black*cough* Okay, fine there are parts in that game that are totally petrifying. Like all the scenes with Ethel...

I also started wondering about the cover. I call it: The Mystery of the Girl. Yeah..., that sounded better in my head. Anyways, who it the girl on the cover? Some have said Nancy, but that's a lot more than HeR has ever given us, specially that early in the series.

Linda Penvellyn? She look to young to be Linda, and the hair looks too long. Personally I don't think she even left the house while "sick", so it seems really unlikely that it's her.

Jane Penvellyn then? Jane seems too young, and again the hair is too long. Moving on...

...wait, we ran out of people.

So, the only logical explanation for who the girl is: delivery girl for the Boar's Head Pub. ^.~

ND26

Since it's been awhile since Alibi in Ashes was released, I think it's safe to talk about about ND26: Tomb of the Lost Queen.

I'm not really surprised by this, considering there were clues as early as Trail of the Twister. I am excited though.

From the preview it looks like a scary game, so it look like, at least for now, HeR is keeping the pattern scary/casual/scary/casual, and not moving the scary game back to the Fall spot quite yet. The graphics look pretty awesome. It doesn't look like a vacation with Bess and George, or Ned, but I kinda hope the Hardys are in it, since it's been way too long since we heard from them.

Their Tech

Welcome to the first edition of a little mini game type thing I'm calling Their Tech. Pick person, pick gadget. It's that simple. Today I'm doing Nancy's iPhone. Feel free to suggest future "challenges" that you think might be fun. :)

Okay, so as for Nancy's iPhone:

Case: Perhaps one with a magnifying glass on the back? Or a silhouette, like this? However, that might not work so good on undercover missions. So are we looking at something like this, or maybe with a holiday flare? ^.^

Background: Well, winter is approaching, so maybe something to get in the mood and remind her of a great case?

Apps: Let's see, a recorder, a magnifying glass, flashlight with a built in SOS option, a news app to keep up with all the latest happenings, a video calling app to stay in touch with friends while away, a nifty note/todo/journal app, the all-in-one search app, a cool alarm clock, and a mystery game like this to play while on the road. ;)

Anything else you think Nancy needs?

The Ultimate Showdown

The ultimate showdown: Nancy Drew vs. The Hardy Boys. Yep, I'm going there.

I used to like the Hardy Boys' books a little better, since there was more action. Of course, that was when I just read the classics. Others (also reading the classics) I've talked to liked Nancy better, because she used her head, instead of brawn, to solve cases. Then I started reading the Girl Detective series, and began to agree with them. Ultimately, it matters a lot on what series you compare.

As far as the classics, the Hardy Boys tend to be more active, and really don't seem to use their heads very much. If they get caught, say hello to Joe's right hook. By comparison, Nancy works complex puzzles and crimes out, and pretty much avoids all confrontation. In one scene, she gets caught and fakes a faint to get out of the situation.

The pattern didn't change in the paperbacks, though Nancy does seem to develop some guts over time.

The same pattern prevailed in the Casefiles, Frank and Joe get more violent, often carrying weapons and the whole trio's IQ drops. Nancy becomes a bit more active, but also ten times more interested in any random guys who happen to pop up. The Hardys get less amateur, as they work on and off alongside the Network.

In 2005, both the Hardys and Detective Drew got rebooted in Undercover Brothers and Girl Detective, respectively. The extremes finally stop, as the Hardy maintain their standing in American Teens Against Crime (their Dad's new crime fighting group), while dropping the weapons and extreme action. Nancy gets to have some more fun, as that new cell phone apparently let's her out of the house past ten o'clock. ;)

I honestly can't tell you anything about the Hardys' Clues Brothers or Secret Files, and Nancy's Notebooks or Clue Crew, since I haven't read any of them.

If Nancy didn't meet Ned in The Clue in the Diary, how?

The first time Nancy ever meets Ned is in The Clue in the Diary (she thinks he's stealing her car, lol). Apparently, they also snuck him into a one of the Nancy Drew Notebooks, which is just a bit bizarra. Now, the question is, if they hadn't met in either The Clue in the Diary or the Notebook, how would they have met?

Now, they're probably only half a million romanticized scenarios of this, but I'm not going down the road of fan fiction. Quite literally, what are our possibilities? In the original series, Ned was from Mapleton, so he probably wouldn't go to the same school as Nancy. You still have random events, trips, or a case that could have landed them both in Mapleton or River Heights, but now we're on the same path as The Clue in the Diary. They could also have met through friends, such as in a random scenario where Burt Eddleton and George are a couple, and Burt brings Ned as a date for Nancy!

In the Casefiles, they made another attempt to erase The Clue in the Diary, by saying Ned and Nancy had been dating since high school. This might also imply that they went to the same high school though...

In the Girl Detective books, Ned lives in River Heights, which sends yet another twist to the whole high school thing, but leaves the door open for more interaction. This is also alluded to in the 2007 movie Nancy Drew.

Throughout most of the collection, Ned is going to Emerson College, which also gives us options, as Nancy could have visited Emerson for a case.

And, we always have the option of saying they met when they were nine years old, as the Notebooks would have us believe. ^.~ Which just might explain how Nancy knew about Ned in the remastered The Secret at Shadow Ranch, before they 'officially' met in The Clue in the Diary! ;D

The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew TV Show

The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew TV Show first aired on January 31st, 1977, with the Hardy Boys episode: The Mystery of the Haunted House. The next week Nancy took over with The Mystery of Pirate's Cove. The same pattern would continue for almost two seasons. Halfway through the second season, Janet Louise Johnson took over for Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy, and she no longer appeared in separate episodes of her own. For the third, the show would be re-titled The Hardy Boys Mysteries, and Nancy disappeared completely.

Some of the episodes are actually good, many are completely corny, and chances are you'll laugh as least once, whether it's from Nancy flipping Frank (played by Parker Stevenson) or one of Joe's (played by Shaun Cassidy) lame jokes. Is it the best the portrayal of the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew? Probably not, though it depends on the person you talk to and which book series they're comparing it to.

See, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew TV Show is modeled after the casefile series. Obvious similarities are the Fancy (Frank Hardy plus Nancy Drew) theme leaked into the "supermystery" shows, the death of Joe's girlfriend in the first episode of the third season, and the agency that Frank and Joe start working for in season three. It's also got the general air of the casefiles, designed for a slightly older audience, and with too many moments that make our favorite sleuths sound like idiots.

It's an interesting edition to the collection, and I'd have to recommend it, though beware, you can't take it too seriously. At the very least it's fueled more discussions over Frank vs. Joe and Fancy vs. Jancy (Joe Hardy and Nancy Drew) than anything else out there. ^.^

Samantha Quick

If you're on the HeR message boards, you might have seen the thread full of theories related to Samantha Quick and Sonny Joon. It's quite interesting.

Some, like me, think of Samantha as a good person on the wrong side, while others think of her as a dark, nefarious thief. Dozens of other theories exist, but most of them fall into one of those categories. While these hypothesis are fun to read, they can also cloud the facts. So I've made of a spoiler free list of the facts about Samantha Quick:

The Final Scene: Simone suggests Nancy use the stage name Samantha Quick.

The Phantom of Venice: Nancy infiltrates a suspect's business by impersonating Samantha Quick from the Doppler Institute. To do so, Nancy wears a blonde wig, but we don't know if that's Samantha's real hair color. Nancy is forced to steal something (spoilers... ^.^) as Samantha, which reveals Ms. Quick's profession. We also get a call from someone claiming to be Samantha, in which she threatens Nancy by mentioning River Heights and Ned!

Hardy Boys' Treasure on the Tracks: Samantha ends up helping the Hardys with the case. She appears with shoulder length brown hair.

Also, in Ransom of the Seven Ships: Coucou says "Samantha, meet Justin." and "Justin this is Samantha. It may or may not refer to Samantha Quick.

Nancy Drew Central

I know this is an obnoxiously game orientated topic, but-

Am I the only one who really misses Nancy Drew Central? It was so convenient to get to the games, and also the Hint & Tips or Reviews boards.

I don't understand why HeR got rid of it, or at least replaced it with something better. Sure, twenty-five games it a lot to have in one list, but they could have redesigned it. And any errors (on the older games, when they go into full screen mode, NDC re-sizes itself) could have been fixed, making it even better. They must have had a reason, but I can't see it...

I'm surprised this hasn't turned into an issue on the message boards. So far, the only thing I've seen on there was users who though it was a technical issue, much as I did. I'm surprised that no one has started a petition, but that might be because their's no real place for one. Or am I the only one who misses Nancy Drew Central?

The Most Educational Game

Perusing the board today, I noticed this poll. So, Secret of the Scarlet Hand is the most educational game by popular vote. I can agree with that one, considering I've memorized the Mayan counting system because I've played that game so many times.

And that's just the tip the ice berg, the game manages to touch in on countless facts about Mayan history, including creating a new legend of it's own: the mystery surrounding the monolith. I won't spoil the game for anyone who hasn't played it, but your definitely not going to make it through the game without learning something. Like Morse code or about King Pacal.

The game isn't just chalk full of history, but also science. Anyone remember the chromatographic machine to analyze the hand print? Similar to the one in Alibi in Ashes? REAL! And so is cinnabar, and the Maya really did use it!

Anything else from the books or games someone has discovered to be real?

Alibi in Ashes- did "Where's Nancy?" finally get turned into a game?

One need look no farther than the Book Suggestions thread on the HeRinteractive message boards to see people what books people really want to be made into games.  Right up the top of the list is The Hidden Staircase, despite the fact it was already incorporated into the computer game version of The Secret of the Old Clock. Also on the top ten list, is the Girl Detective Supermystery Where's Nancy has been requested dozens of times, including my own vote.

HeR is famous for listening to it's fans, illustrated by all the times something has been suggested on the message boards, avidly supported, and turned into a game. MAC games anyone?

So, naturally, the question is, when will they turn Where's Nancy into a game? Better question, how would they, considering Nancy is missing until the end of the book? Though, personally, I want a game based on Where's Nancy to get more involvement from Ned, Bess, and George, not to have Nancy disappear for the entire game.

Is any of this sounding familiar? In Alibi in Ashes, you get to play as Nancy, Ned, Bess, and George, much the same as in Where's Nancy, in which the story is told from the point of view of Nancy, Ned, Bess, and George! Another similarity: in Where's Nancy, Nancy stays trapped in one place for must of the book. In Alibi in Ashes, Nancy stays trapped in the police station for most of the game! True, the main plot of Where's Nancy and Alibi in Ashes are fairly different, but they do share similar elements.

What's your opinion? Do you see any other similarities, or alternatively anything radically different?
