Hardy Boys Games

DreamCatcher Interactive Inc. produced two Hardy Boys PC games: The Hidden Theft in 2008 and The Perfect Crime in 2009. Personally, I never got to play them but I never really heard anything good about them.

The Hidden Theft is a adventure game, but from the reviews on Amazon and what I've heard on the HeR message boards, there's a lot of bugs and the game isn't up to par with the Nancy Drew games. The main complaint seems to be the plot: super lame.

The second is a hidden object game, and a really bad one apparently. Courtesy of the Amazon reviews, I found out that the Hardys spend most of the time cleaning up their room or the Chief's office just to find one item.  Sounds like basically the same thing they did with the Agatha Christie hidden object games.

Apparently another company acquired the rights to the Hardy Boys games, but no plans for another game have been made public. Hopefully, if they decide to make one, they'll improve upon the older games.

Of course, there's also the Hardy Boys DS game, Treasure on the Tracks, produced by HeR. I've never played it because I don't have access to a computer, but what I've heard is good. And then there's always the part where Samantha Quick shows up. I watched over half of Arglefumph's video walkthrough, and with the exception that it seems like a Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon/Romanov crossover, I'd have to say it looks awesome.

Overall, they're have been mixed results on the Hardy Boys games front. The PC games have been a bit of a failure, but the DS game has met with pretty good reception, though nothing about a sequel has been said.

Your thoughts?
